Central bank expects Russia’s inflation to slow down in April
MOSCOW, Apr 28 (PRIME) -- Russia’s inflation should slow down in April, although talking about a consistent slowdown is too early, Deputy Chairman Alexei Zabotkin said on Wednesday during a forum.
“Inflation is significantly higher than 4% in both annual and seasonally adjusted monthly terms. The seasonally adjusted growth of prices in March was at a local maximum for the entire post-pandemic period. It looks like April will be slightly lower, but it is too early to speak about a consistent slowdown of the growth of prices,” he said.
Earlier in April, the central bank raised its 2021 inflation forecast to 4.7–5.2% from 3.7–4.2%. It expects inflation to return to the target figure of 4% in mid-2022.
